The Story: Alien Tech Meets the Wild West
The Frontier Earth series takes us back to a pivotal moment in American history: Tombstone, Arizona, in 1881. But this is not the history you know.
- The Protagonist: The story follows Macklin, an interstellar scout and „Monitor“ sent to Earth by a vast galactic civilization known as the Associative. His mission: observe humanity.
- The Twist: Upon crash-landing, Macklin suffers severe amnesia, leaving him stranded in the rugged Wild West with no memory of his origin or his high-tech equipment.
- The Collision of Worlds: As Macklin tries to piece his identity together, he crosses paths with legendary historical figures like Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday, finding himself right in the middle of the tensions leading up to the famous gunfight at the O.K. Corral.
- The Ultimate Threat: While humanity goes about its daily life unaware, a powerful alien force known as the Kra’agh is slowly drawing closer to Earth. With his memories lost and time running short, Macklin may become the planet’s only chance of survival.
The Duology
The universe was published in two novels by Ace Books, co-written with renowned sci-fi author William H. Keith Jr.:
- Frontier Earth (1999): The grand introduction that sets the stage in Tombstone, blending meticulous historical accuracy with deep extraterrestrial lore and the mystery of the lost Roanoke colony.
- Frontier Earth: Searcher (2001): The thrilling continuation that raises the stakes, diving deeper into Macklin’s quest, the looming alien invasion, and the ultimate battle for the frontier.

Although readers know Frontier Earth as a two-book series today, Bruce originally envisioned it as one large novel. During the publishing process, however, his management and publisher decided to divide the manuscript into two volumes — resulting in the duology readers know today.
